Seal of St Michael

.
I should like to ask His Excellency: what does the seal of Michael the Archangel look like, how is the seal to be used, and where can one be obtained? Thank you, and God bless you. In Christ, Theodore.

The seal that appears below is carried for protection, and is used by exorcists when engaged in confronting demons. Like all symbols of this kind, its efficacy lies in the symbol being blessed in the correct manner and, most important of all, the strength of faith held by the person carrying it. Authentic seals are not easily obtainable, and suppliers of esoterica are not to be recommended. Try a traditional Catholic source, and have a traditionalist priest bless it. Without the requisite faith of the user, however, the seal and/or sigil is impotent.

What do the symbols on the sigil (not the seal) mean? I tried to look it up and the only things that I came across with those exact symbols was from occult sources (or for occult purposes). Can you clarify?

    Thanks!

  2. The symbolism is medieval and, like much else of that period, could quite easily have been adopted by alchemists and sorcerers for their own purpose. The curious thing about occultists of that period is that they were seemingly prepared to integrate Judeo-Christian symbols into their own talismans and ceremonial rituals; something not so prevalent today unless the sorcerer is using old texts from centuries ago.

As with all symbols and sigils, the intention is what is important, and the intention of these signs is to protect the user against demons. I can find nothing inherently dark or sinister in the symbols themselves which, like any symbol, can be interpreted in various ways, eg the cross of St Peter is sometimes confused with Satanism.

  3. I have a question - does the church have any objection to a tattoo of the Sigil of St Michael? The tattoo is meant to be kept hidden but for continous protection unlike an amulet that may not always be on the wearer.

  4. I am personally not comfortable with the current preoccupation with tattoos, but, if you are determined to have one, this symbol cannot raise too much objection, as the intent, ie protection from demons, is what really matters.

  5. Thank you, I have never wanted a tattoo in my life. My father and mother divorced 6 years ago, and we suspected previously about his dabbling with the diabolical. I know he does. Since they split, I have felt things aren't as good for me in my personal, emotional and spiritual life. I fear I am not emotionally/spiritually strong enough and could use with all the help I can get.

  7. I do not personally provide these material objects and resist offering illustrations of angelic seals and/or sigils where the angel in question is unidentified in the Bible. Further information about Barachiel can be viewed at:
